Gene Analysis of X-Ray Induced Male - Sterility of Radish

Abstract
|
|
|
Local radish variety, Euisung banchung, was x-rayed and male-sterile individual was obtained. Investigation was made to make clear the gene(s) controlling the induced male-sterility.
1. Male-sterile individual occurred in the 60KR plot and this plant accompanied sectorial chimera of chlorophyll deficiency in M₁ generation.
2. Ovule fertility of the MS plant was normal.
3. The male-sterility was caused by the inferation of Splasmagene and homo recessive karyogene (msms) as in the case of onion.
4. By using the two genotypes, Smsms and Nmsms, MS seed could be produced and utilizing this genetic system F₁ hybrid seed may be produced.
